Word clouds clear up discussions

Word clouds are neat way are visualizing text, from blog posts to comments on discussion forums.

Active Twitter users, we wanted to see which topics we tweet about most. As this word cloud shows, we mention ourselves a lot. But topics that we spend a lot of time talking about on Twitter (such as edtech, elearning and teaching, to name a few) also made the list.

A word cloud created using all of itslearning´s Tweets since 2010.

Word clouds can  serve as a valuable classroom tool as well. Cut through a heap of  entries on a discussion forum created using itslearning´s discussion tool to arrive at some main themes. Word clouds are also a great way to find tags for your school´s itslearning blog!

The good news - creating word clouds is easy! Simply paste your desired text into Wordle, select the layout of the word cloud and you have a neat tool for organising various types of texts!

Have you used a word cloud in your teaching? If so, we want to hear from you in the comment field below! And remember to share this post!
