Software update 13 November 2008

This release contains several new features and enhancements. In addition we have made more than 100 improvements to the way the application works. You find the entire list of news and bug fixes below.

New features

Task list enhancement

We have made a new and more user friendly task list. The task list shows a list of unfinished and not submitted tasks on the main page and course main page. Tasks that are listed in the task list are tests created with the beta 2.0 test tool, assignments, surveys and process-oriented documents. Note that tests created with the old test tool are not shown in the task list.

  • New task list on the main and course pages: The task list now shows task name, task type, deadlines and statuses. The task list on the main page shows which course the task belongs to. Tasks are automatically removed when they are submitted or finished and the task list is automatically updated if new tasks are added.
  • Better performance: The course and main page now loads faster after the enhancement.

Important about old tasks! It may take some time (about a week) from we update until existing tasks become visible in the task list. This is because we have to migrate the tasks from the old task list to the new. However, new tasks which are added become visible once they are activated by the teacher.

Early learner interface

The early learner interface is also updated with the following new features:

  • My page: A new tab called My page is created in the early learner application. The goal of this page is to allow the early learners express themselves by adding a personal description.
  • Personalise the early learner interface with personal pictures: In the previous sprint we made it possible for the learners to personalise the interface by changing skins. Now it is also possible for the users to choose a personal picture from a library of images. This is done by clicking the picture with a question mark in the top left corner of the early learner interface. The users are allowed to change personal picture whenever they want.
  • Internet Explorer 6: We have now added full support for Internet Explorer version 6 in the early learner interface.
