General information from the school to the parents can also be sent through itslearning, and messages can be sent between parents and the form teacher.

Maintenance of privacy of personal information

This new solution, called the parent dashboard, has been developed in accordance with rules and regulations concerning protection of privacy.

• Act relating to procedure in cases concerning the public administration (Public Administration Act)
• Act relating to the processing of personal data (Personal Data Act)
• Act relating to education with associated stipulations
• Act concerning children and parents

In practice this means that there are restrictions placed on what information parents may access, and who they may communicate with in itslearning:

• Parents can only view information about their own children
• Parents cannot view the messages and e-mails of the children
• Parents cannot view the contents of subjects and projects
• Parents can only communicate with the form teacher of their children

Free of charge until the end of the school year 2010/2011

In order to grant parents access to itslearning they must be created as users in the system and get their own personal username and password. The increased number of users in itslearning will be free of charge until the end of the school year 2010/2011. After this a small amount will be charged for using the parent dashboard. More information about this will be given directly to our customers.

Get started

We have drawn up instructions for the administrator on what must be done to grant access to parents to use their dashboard in itslearning as soon as the school has decided whether or not this will be used. The instructions will be sent to all administrators and support users that are registered in our support system.

We will send out an information circular to our customers which may be distributed to parents, and one that explains to the children what the parents will have access to on their personal dashboard.
