Learner FAQ

Your parents can now access certain information about your learning activities through a parent dashboard. They have their own it’s learning login, but they can only see certain information about you. We recognise children’s right to to privacy, and messages and projects are kept completely private. With the parent dashboard parents can access information they can use to help you. There is little difference between parents receiving regular school newsletters, letters and reports, except that the information is available more immediately and from a single access point.

Questions & Answers

Note: This information is only applicable for schools that have chosen to implement parents functionality.

Why should my parents see what I do?

Children have a right to a personal life and privacy, but at the same time parents are responsible for following-up their children’s education. Parents should be allowed access to some information, but not everything. Your parents have access to relevant school related information, not your personal communication with friends etc., such as messages and projects. Most parents are interested in following-up their children, and to accomplish this they need information about what’s going on at school just as they would get from standard reports and letters but in a more relevant and immediate way. With the information from the parent dashboard it will be easier for your parents to help you with your school work.

What can my parents see?

Depending on how your school use it’s learning, your parents can have access to:

  • Your task list
  • Completed activities, such as test and assignment results
  • Course reports and plans
  • Individual learning plans
  • Attendance remarks
  • Behaviour remarks
  • General school information
Can I control what my parents see?

No, but we respect your privacy. Your parents have access to relevant school related information, not your personal communication with friends etc., such as messages and projects.

Will my parents see my behaviour remarks?

Yes, if your school it's learning for tracking behaviour, your behaviour remarks can be displayed to your parents.

I'm juridically an adult – do my parents still have access?

Schools should have routines that remove the access for your parents once you reach an age when your parents are no longer entitled to have access to information about you. If this does not happen automatically, your school can disable the parent dashboard at your request.
