The Comenius EduMedia Award is one of the most important awards for multimedia products in Europe
On 20 June, 2013 the Society for Pedagogy and Information (GPI) awarded itslearning the Comenius EduMedia Medal and the Comenius EduMedia Seal of Approval in the category ‘Educational Management Systems’ (LMS).
The Society for Pedagogy and Information (GPI) is a scientific society for multimedia, educational technology and media didactics. It bestows awards to outstanding products in the field of ICT-supported educational media.
The Comenius EduMedia Award is an honorary award that is open to participants from all European countries. This year there were 170 entries submitted from 19 countries, and only 16 medals were awarded. In the award class ‘Educational Management Systems’ (LMS) itslearning outperformed competitors such as Blackboard and the Class Wall.
“itslearning is more than what we have come to expect from traditional learning management systems, it represents the next generation. A global educational network and a perfect LMS locally which supports the exchange and implementation of pedagogical and didactical practices. […] itslearning offers teachers relevant technological support, enabling them to focus on what matters most: the development of their teaching content and practices”
From the laudatory speech by Associate Prof. Dr. Marko Ivanisin, member of the “Comenius” EduMedia Metal jury (translated from German)
Since its establishment in 1995, the Comenius EduMedia Award has become one of the most important awards for multimedia products in Europe. Through these coveted awards, GPI supports pedagogically, thematically and by design outstanding ICT-supported educational media. The selection process is supported by the European Commission in the Programme for Life Long Learning.
"We are delighted with this recognition of our work,'' said Christian Grune, Managing Director of itslearning Germany, who accepted the award in Berlin. “The prize is awarded to pedagogically outstanding ICT-supported educational media – pedagogy is exactly what itslearning focuses on.”
