Fronter Champions Trafalgar Infant School
Trafalgar Infant School is beautifully located in Twickenham, in the Borough of Richmond, West London. The school was founded in 1905 in commemoration of the battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
When you walk into Trafalgar you are struck by the happy and playful atmosphere. Outside there´s a large well-equipped playground and inside the walls are painted striking green and pink, with art made by the pupils. The building thus reflects Trafalgar's core educational philosophy of both adult and pupil led activities.
Fronter as a collective success
At Trafalgar, they have had success using Fronter for many years and the kids, parents, and staff are all involved in customising Fronter to meet Trafalgar needs.
"The pupils are very much involved in all that we do, including the e-school. We ask them what they want and what would be helpful for them. We also ask their parents and staff as well and we put all those ideas together. That's our philosophy - to try and make Fronter user-friendly for everybody," says Lynne Thompson, headteacher at Trafalgar.
Won Community Education Award
Before this year's summer Olympics in Rio, the kids at Trafalgar prepared for the Olympics by creating their own Fronter room. The room went on to win a Learning Through Education Award.
"Our Olympic room was entered in a competition as part of the Learning Through Education Award under the category "best use if ICT to promote learning in School" and we won that competition," says Jane Burton, computer ICT and e-safety lead at Trafalgar.
"The kids really enjoyed making the room and now they would like to have more input on the work that goes into creating the pages in Fronter," says Burton.
